Mercedes-Benz India announces price correction across entire model range from 1st January 2026

Adjustments of up to 2% reflect ongoing forex challenges as Euro-INR exchange rate consistently remains above INR 100 mark in 2025, significantly higher than historical averages

Mercedes-Benz continues to shield customers from full impact of the currency movement, by only passing on marginal costs to the market

Mercedes-Benz India is considering further quarterly price adjustments, to reach closer to the current forex levels

• Ex-showroom price adjustments up to 2% effective 1st January 2026 across Mercedes-Benz model range

• Price hike driven by increased material costs, inflationary pressures, and logistics expenses leading to higher operational costs for Mercedes-Benz

• These rising expenses have been creating substantial pressure on Mercedes-Benz’s business operations necessitating price correction

• Mercedes-Benz is absorbing the majority of cost pressures, passing a nominal portion to the market

• This price correction has been necessitated to offset rising operational costs for sustainable business

• Adjustment quantum varies by model based on local content versus import dependency

• With tailored financing options, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services offset price impact of the majority of financed purchases, providing smart solutions to enhance overall ownership experience

Pune: India's most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today announced a pricing adjustment across its entire model range, effective from 1st January 2026. The price correction capped at 2%, reflects sustained forex pressures that have characterised the luxury automotive landscape throughout 2025. In addition, rise in input costs, commodity prices, increased logistical expenses in combination of inflationary pressures have been creating significant pressure on the company’s bottom line, necessitating a price correction.

Throughout 2025, the Euro-INR exchange rate has traded persistently above INR 100 mark, representing a significant deviation from earlier period. This currency environment has created substantial cost pressures across the supply chain, affecting both imported components for local assembly, as well as import of CBU (completely built vehicles). Despite the company's aggressive localisation strategy, which continues to absorb bulk of increased costs, a selective price adjustment has become essential to maintain operational sustainability.

MBFS structures solutions for affordability:

Recognizing that product substance and price underpins the luxury automotive market, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has developed tailored financial products to mitigate any EMI impact from this price adjustment. With 80% of Mercedes-Benz purchases in India involving financing, and MBFS directly facilitating approximately 50% of total brand sales, Financial Services plays a pivotal role in driving ownership ecosystem for Mercedes-Benz.

Pune: Mercedes-Benz, India’s most desirable luxury automobile brand today, announced the launch of ‘SKYLine’, a ‘Made in India, for India’ bespoke end-to-end Dealer Management System (DMS) developed grounds up, in partnership with Zoho. Built on Zoho CRM and implemented by Zoho’s Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS) team, SKYLine redefines seamless customer journey by offering unique customer benefits from vehicle reception to vehicle delivery. SKYLine combines dealer-level autonomy with centrally governed processes, delivering a fully digitized and integrated platform across Mercedes-Benz India’s nationwide dealership network, elevating customer ownership experience significantly.

Designed to modernize operations and elevate customer experience, SKYLine digitizes the entire service lifecycle from booking to delivery through real-time data integration, streamlined workflows, and unified backend operations. The result is enhanced operational efficiency, transparency, and a premium, brand-aligned experience for both customers and dealers.

Now live across all dealerships in India, SKYLine marks a transformational shift from legacy infrastructure to a cutting-edge decentralized architecture. Each Mercedes-Benz dealership will now operate on its own dedicated Zoho CRM instance, enabling autonomy while ensuring compliance with centrally defined standards. SKYLine seamlessly integrates with Mercedes-Benz’s legacy HQ systems without requiring any changes at the HQ end, enabled by a robust transformation layer co-developed with Zoho to manage all downstream communication.

To achieve this vision, Mercedes-Benz India needed to balance dealership autonomy with OEM-level control and enterprise-wide standardization while addressing the constraint of not modifying HQ systems. Zoho addressed these requirements by co-creating a vertical, multi-instance architecture powered by Zoho CRM and Qntrl, its workflow orchestration platform. The middleware layer, developed in tandem with Qntrl, enables real-time synchronization across systems and regions by supporting REST, SOAP, file-based, and other legacy protocols.

“SKYLine is a technology marvel born of close collaboration and co-creation. When Mercedes-Benz India came to us with a vision that had no off-the-shelf solution, we saw an opportunity to build something truly unique. Together, we have built a decentralized platform that empowers each dealership with autonomy, while maintaining central control and real-time HQ integration. To meet these complex needs, we co-developed middleware capabilities alongside our evolving Qntrl platform, enabling seamless communication across legacy protocols. This project reflects what’s possible when product teams and customers come together with a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to solving real-world challenges.” Mani Vembu, CEO, Zoho

SKYLine now orchestrates the full spectrum of customer service processes comprising:

Service booking, digital check-in, vehicle inspection, real-time estimate approvals (to be activated soon), job card creation, skill-based technician assignment, live job tracking, proactive communication, quality control, and post-service feedback collection.

These connected workflows replace fragmented systems with a seamless, paperless customer journey. Beyond service, SKYLine streamlines diverse dealership operations including courtesy car management and pre-owned vehicle refurbishment and resale.

Dealerships can track courtesy car availability via a visual dashboard, while pre-owned workflows centralize one of the fastest-growing business segments. Embedded analytics provide real-time insights to both dealership managers and OEM stakeholders, enabling informed, data-driven decisions.

The rollout was backed by over 5,000 man-days of user acceptance testing and 3,000 man-days of training, ensuring strong adoption across all locations. Zoho EBS led the end-to-end delivery, from design to post-implementation support, while engineering secure middleware integrations that enabled seamless data exchange with Mercedes-Benz’s European HQ systems. This included advanced data transformation, asynchronous processing, and multi-protocol communication, making SKYLine one of the most technically complex and strategically significant DMS deployments in the region.

Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX), Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 And Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Luxury Consumer Survey 2025

Mumbai, India | 18 September 2025: For the first time, Mercedes-Benz and Hurun India have partnered to publish the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX), Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 alongside the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Luxury Consumer Survey 2025, offering a comprehensive overview of the country’s economic rise, wealth landscape and the lifestyle preferences of its millionaire households.

The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 estimates that India is home to 8,71,700 dollar millionaire households (net worth ≥INR 8.5 Cr each), up from 4,58,000 in 2021 – a 90% increase in four years. These millionaire families represent about 0.31% of all households in India (up from 0.17% in 2021) and are projected to continue growing in number on the back of strong economic momentum. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Luxury Consumer Survey 2025, based on responses from 150 Indian millionaires (Average age 32 years), sheds light on their brand preferences, investment attitudes, and lifestyle trends, ranging from digital payment adoption to favourite luxury brands.

Commenting on the launch, Santosh Iyer, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, said, "India's growth story underscores the resilience and transformation of the economy, driven by a burgeoning domestic market and soaring aspiration of today’s young generation. Mercedes-Benz, with strong roots in India, remains a symbol of social prestige, financial affluence and unmatched desirability. The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index reflects the pulse of India's wealth creation and luxury consumption patterns, representing the sentiment of India's affluents. Mercedes-Benz remains optimistic about India's economic resilience and social progress, and our strategic patience defines our long-term positive market outlook and exuberance for India.", concluded Santosh Iyer.

Commenting on the launch, Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder & Chief Researcher, Hurun India, said, “I believe our inaugural Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX) truly captures the spirit of India’s economic rise. For the first time, we have an index that uniquely blends multiple indicators – from luxury car sales and billionaire growth to stock market performance and GDP – into a single yardstick of wealth creation. The index’s near-200% surge in recent years shows me that India’s wealth creation is real and resilient, rising in tandem with our broader economic progress. This index is more than a statistic; it’s a celebration of how far India has come and a benchmark for the journey ahead."

"I am struck by the extraordinary upward mobility we’re witnessing in India. In less than a decade, the number of Indian households worth over US$1Mn has skyrocketed by 445% – a surge that underlines how wealth creation is reaching a broader base of our society. This democratisation of prosperity speaks to the resilience of our economy, with opportunity spreading to millions of new wealth creators. Yet it’s also telling that only about 5% of 2017’s millionaires have become ultra-high-net-worth individuals and a mere 0.01% made it to billionaire status. It shows that while affluence is spreading, the climb to the very top remains steep. Overall, I see a nation where wealth aspirations are more attainable than ever, fueling a confident, upwardly mobile India."

"As of today, India counts roughly 8.7 lakh (871,700) millionaire households – still modest next to China’s ~51 lakh (5.1 million), and a far cry from the even larger base in the United States. I don’t view this gap as a disadvantage; I see it as our runway. It underscores the immense growth potential of India’s wealth story. In fact, with the economy set to double, we project India’s millionaires could double to around 1.7 to 2 million households in the next decade. Powered by our young demographic, technology and entrepreneurial spirit, India is poised to become the world’s fastest-growing wealth hub – gradually closing the gap with the leading economies. The best is yet to come."

"One of the most exciting aspects of India’s wealth boom is the rise of the luxury market. Our latest survey reveals that India’s millionaires are actively shaping the future of luxury consumption, influencing trends at home and abroad. We chose to shine a spotlight on the luxury segment because luxury in India today is far more than indulgence – it represents aspiration, innovation, and the confidence of a new India. As wealth grows, so does demand for premium experiences, and the next decade presents a meaningful opportunity for global luxury brands to deepen their presence in India. By honoring this segment, we acknowledge that the story of India’s wealth creators is also a story of evolving tastes and world-class aspirations."

"I would like to sincerely thank Mercedes-Benz for partnering with us on this report. This collaboration marries Mercedes-Benz’s legacy as a symbol of aspiration for India’s wealthy with Hurun’s expertise in chronicling wealth creation. Together, we have combined our credibility and insights to present a holistic picture of India’s wealth landscape. I believe this partnership sets a new benchmark – it’s a testament to our shared vision to celebrate India’s wealth creators and the luxury ecosystem that inspires them. We are proud of what we’ve achieved together, and I look forward to our continued journey in highlighting India’s success stories.", concluded Anas Rahman Junaid, Founder and Chief Researcher, Hurun India.

Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX)

To track the pace and sentiment of wealth creation in India, we have introduced the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index – a comprehensive measure of the health of India’s high-net-worth economy.

The MBHX combines four powerful indicators to provide a holistic view: Mercedes-Benz sales and the number of new entrants on the Hurun India Rich List 2024 as proxies for luxury consumption and entrepreneurial confidence; the performance of the BSE Sensex as a reflection of investor sentiment; and India’s GDP growth as the foundation of economic strength.

The index has shown a strong upward trajectory in recent years, underscoring an accelerated cycle of wealth creation. Despite global uncertainties, high-end consumption, entrepreneurial success, and robust economic fundamentals have come together to drive momentum.

The MBHX serves as a barometer of India’s wealth ecosystem, capturing its vitality and growing global significance.

Chart 1: Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index

MBHX Confirms India’s Wealth Creation Is Real

The Nominal and Real MBHX move almost parallel, showing only a small gap between them. This tells us that inflation in India over this period was moderate and well-managed, averaging around 4–6% annually. Unlike high-inflation economies, where nominal measures are heavily distorted, most observed wealth creation in India came from genuine economic expansion, stock market growth, and new billionaire wealth, not simply rising prices.

In other words, the MBHX confirms that India’s wealth creation story since 2017 has been real, sustainable, and largely inflation-resilient.

Chart 2: Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX) (Nominal & Real)

Source: Hurun Research Institute; Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025; Hurun India Rich List 2024Bn (Billion), Mn (Million), Cr (Crore)

A new analysis of India’s millionaire households highlights the distribution of wealth across varying net-worth tiers, underscoring the growing concentration of assets at the top. The data present a clear wealth pyramid, where households rise sharply as the wealth brackets decline.

At the very apex stand 360 billionaire households, each with a net worth exceeding INR8,500Cr (US$1 Bn), collectively commanding an extraordinary INR 185 lakh crore. Below them, the affluent base expands significantly: 66,800 households hold wealth above INR100Cr, while the count of millionaire households (net worth above INR8.5Cr / US$1Mn) reaches 8,71,700.

India’s Millionaire Surge Reshapes the Wealth Pyramid, but the Climb to Billionaire Status Remains Elusive

India adds millions of new millionaires and crorepatis between 2017 and 2025, yet only a fraction ascends into the ultra-rich and billionaire tiers, highlighting broad-based affluence and steep selectivity at the top.

The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 reveals a transformative decade in India’s wealth landscape, characterised by extraordinary upward mobility at the pyramid's base and a sharp narrowing of fortunes at the apex.

Between 2017 and 2025, the number of Indians surpassing the symbolic US$1Mn mark (INR8.5Cr) grew by 445%, while those exceeding INR10Cr (US$1.17Mn) rose by over 200%. This surge reflects India’s rapidly expanding affluent base, driven by strong equity markets, entrepreneurship, and urban economic growth.

At the same time, upward mobility into the ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) brackets was more selective. Roughly 5% of 2017 millionaires crossed into the INR100Cr (US$12Mn) bracket, while only 1.3% reached INR200Cr (US$24Mn). Beyond this point, the pyramid narrows dramatically: just 0.07% of millionaires progressed to INR1,000Cr (US$120Mn) and a mere 0.01% became billionaires (US$1Bn+).

These findings underline a dual narrative: India produces millions of new millionaires, yet billionaire status remains extraordinarily rare, achievable only by a select few through global-scale enterprises, IPOs, or multi-generational wealth consolidation.

Consistency with Income-tax Data:

The report’s findings are reinforced by official Income-tax return (ITR) statistics, which show that the number of taxpayers with annual income above INR1Cr nearly tripled between AY 2017–18 and AY 2023–24, rising from ~81,000 to ~2.27 lakh. Like the wealth pyramid, the taxpayer pyramid thins out quickly in higher slabs (INR5Cr+, INR10Cr+), validating the report’s conclusion that wealth mobility is potent at the base but sharply selective at the top. The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 positions India as one of the world’s most dynamic wealth-creation economies:

•Mass affluence is spreading rapidly, with millions entering millionaire and multi-crore status.

•Structural bottlenecks constrain progression into the ultra-rich and billionaire classes.

This wealth mobility story reflects both the democratisation of prosperity and the concentration of extreme wealth, offering critical insights for policymakers, investors, and luxury brands.

• Combined fuel consumption (WLTP): 9.3-9.7 l/100km

• The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé will be priced at INR 1.35 ex-showroom, all-India

Pune/Gurugram: India's most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz today launched the spectacular Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, further strengthening its top-end luxury performance portfolio in India. The sporty, elegant two-door model combines the best of both worlds - the agility and sportiness of the C-Class with the space, elegance and status of the E-Class; delivering an unparalleled driving experience with a stunning road presence for performance enthusiasts.

Inline six-cylinder with integrated starter generator and electric additional compressor

The new CLE 53 4MATIC+ uses a comprehensively upgraded version of the 3.0-litre M 256M inline six-cylinder turbo engine. The facelift generation of the high-performance engine, now known as the M 256M, impresses above all with optimized combustion chambers with redesigned inlet and outlet channels, new piston rings, optimized injection and a new exhaust gas turbocharger. In conjunction with the new electric additional compressor, this offers an increase in boost pressure by 0.4 bar to 1.5 bar and thus a higher torque of 560 Nm in continuous operation and 600 Nm in overboost for up to 12 seconds.

However, what is more important than the absolute torque is the availability of it and the overall response of the engine. The improved electric additional compressor is responsible for this. It can now be operated almost continuously over a longer period of time. Drivers feel this especially in medium speed ranges. For this, the exhaust gas turbocharger was made larger for higher peak performance.

The new, second-generation integrated starter generator (ISG) is now integrated into the gearbox bell housing. As a central component of the 48-volt electrical system, it not only functions as an electrical generator, but also takes on hybrid functions. These include short-term boosting with 17 kW (23 hp) of power and 205 Nm of torque, recuperation, load point shifting, sailing and the almost imperceptible restart of the engine during the start-stop function.

Adapted switching times, high efficiency: AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission

The 3.0-litre in-line engine is coupled with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, which impresses with adapted shift times, quick reactions, the double-declutching function and multiple downshifts. An upshift or downshift is implemented immediately. The transmission acts very spontaneously, especially in the "Sport+" driving programme and in manual mode. Dynamic acceleration manoeuvres and the adjusted shifting times are available, as is a fuel-saving driving style, depending on the driving programme selected.

Characteristics at your fingertips: AMG DYNAMIC SELECT

With the five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes "Slippery", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport+" and "Individual" the characteristics of the CLE 53 can be influenced at the touch of a finger. The differentiation ranges from efficient and comfortable to very sporty. Important parameters such as the response behaviour of the engine, transmission, chassis and steering are modified. Regardless of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes, the driver can switch directly to manual mode using the "M" button, to shift gears exclusively using the steering wheel shift paddles.

Fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive as standard

The fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive combines optimal traction for dynamic driving pleasure with a high level of driving safety under all conditions: on dry roads as well as on wet or slippery surfaces. The transition from rear to all-wheel drive and vice versa occurs continuously because the intelligent control is integrated into the entire vehicle system architecture.

When driving moderately and in situations where all-wheel drive is not required, the front axle is completely decoupled. This increases efficiency. From the ESP Sport setting onwards, the driving behaviour is more rear-focused.

Independent AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and three-stage steering

The AMG RIDE CONTROL chassis developed in Affalterbach is used for more agility, more neutral cornering behaviour and higher traction. The steel suspension with a particularly sporty spring-damper set-up and adaptive adjustable damping combines excellent driving dynamics with a high level of ride comfort. The damping on each wheel adapts to the current driving situation and road conditions quickly and precisely via separate valves for the tension and compression directions in the dampers. The damper characteristic curve can be preselected in three levels: "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+".

The standard rear axle steering operates with a maximum steering angle of 2.5 degrees. Up to this degree, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels at speeds of up to 100 km/h, leading to a virtual shortening of the wheelbase and resulting in significantly more agile turning, less steering work, and increased maneuverability. At speeds of more than 100 km/h, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels - up to a maximum of 0.7 degrees for enhanced driving stability.

Interior with independent equipment and specific displays

The interior welcomes passengers with unique equipment, exclusive materials and the latest generation MBUX infotainment system. The eye-catchers are the free-standing 12.3-inch fully digital driver display, the 11.9-inch driver-oriented central display in a user-friendly portrait format and the dynamic ambient lighting with 64 colours.

With the driver display, customers can switch between the display styles "Classic", "Sport" and AMG exclusive "Supersport". The "Supersport" mode is particularly striking with a central round tachometer, designed horizontal displays that are located to the left and right of the tachometer and create a spatial impression of depth. The driver can use the AMG menu to access various special displays such as engine data, gear indicator, warm-up, set-up, G-metre and race timer.

The integral seats in ARTICO man-made leather/MICROCUT black microfibre with AMG-specific graphics and red contrasting topstitching combine sportiness with strong lateral support. The standard, flat-bottomed AMG Performance steering wheel in double-spoke design with seamlessly integrated buttons offers a high level of everyday use with intuitive operating logic for important driving functions and all driving programmes.

Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today kick-started the Fiscal 25-26 with a best-ever sales performance, retailing 4238 new Mercedes-Benz cars in the April-June 2025 period, growing by 10%. The best-ever sales performance in Q1 FY 25-26 was achieved with robust demand for Core and Top-End Luxury vehicles. This sales momentum was also driven by a strong acceleration in the top-end luxury BEV portfolio, which has increased its penetration in the overall sales volume of Mercedes Benz India.

The record sales performance was achieved despite micro-economic challenges, including forex fluctuations, price hikes and market dynamics, including pricing challenges at the luxury entry segment. Mercedes-Benz’s success in the top-end luxury class indicates luxury customers’ growing preference for top-end, exclusive vehicles, underlining the growing penchant for hyper-personalization and premiumization, driven by desire and soaring aspirations of luxury customers.

Overwhelming demand for the Top-End Luxury segment:

The key highlight for Mercedes-Benz India’s Q1 FY 25-26 sales had been the overwhelming demand for Top-End Luxury segment comprising the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS product range and the AMG range of performance vehicles. Top-End Luxury segment sales grew by 20% with strong demand for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, G 580 with EQ Technology, EQS SUV and iconic AMG G 63. While the limited AMG G 63 ‘Collector’s Edition’ has already witnessed an overwhelming response from G-Class aficionados, the recently launched AMG GT 63 PRO is already sold out for the remaining year.

Steady demand driving the ‘Core’ segment:

Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Core’ segment continued to be a significant contributor to the company’s Q1 FY 25-26 sales. The Core segment that comprises C-Class, E-Class LWB sedans, the GLC and GLE SUVs continued its strong performance with 60% contribution to the overall sales volumes of Mercedes-Benz, growing by 10% in Q1 FY 25-26.

The unrivalled success of the E-Class LWB continued with the addition of the potent E450 performance variant, making the Long Wheelbase E-Class the highest selling luxury car in India. Similarly, the C-Class sedan, the GLC SUV and the GLE SUV cemented their customer preferences and strong value proposition, retaining customer loyalty in their respective segments.

Entry Luxury Segment:

Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury’ portfolio offers product with high substance in respective segments,  having higher value proposition for luxury customers. In Q1 FY 25-26, Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury Segment’ marginally declined, in a segment thoroughly dominated by products at a lower price point and offers. Mercedes-Benz Entry Luxury products are feature enriched, highlighting a value-oriented sales approach, that successfully caters to the growing customer aspirations.

Top-End BEVs strongly drive Mercedes-Benz’s BEV growth:

Mercedes-Benz BEV portfolio grew by an outstanding 157% in Q1 FY 25-26, with an increased penetration of 8% to total sales. The BEV sales highlight a steady response to Mercedes-Benz’s electric products, with increased customer deliveries for the dynamic EQS 450 SUV. The BEV growth momentum was primarily driven by the ‘Top-End Luxury’ spectrum, with highest ever demand for the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach Night Series and the stunning G 580 SUV with EQ Technology. The waiting period for the EQS Maybach and G 580 with EQ Technology extends up to 6 months.

e-class LWB

Top Highlights of the All-new E-Class LWB:

Radiator grille with star pattern surface

A black panel-like surface connects the radiator grille with the headlamps. The three-dimensionally designed radiator grille has the STAR at the centre in the Avantgarde line that has been selected for the new E-Class.

MBUX Superscreen with large glass surface

The dashboard makes for the digital experience in the interior. The E-Class is equipped with a front passenger screen, and large glass surface of the MBUX Superscreen extends to the central display. Visually detached from this is the high-resolution instrument cluster display in the driver's field of vision. The main icons on the central and passenger displays are now simpler and color-coded to match smartphone tiles.

New electronic architecture

The electronic architecture is more software- and less hardware-driven. The computing functions of previously separate domains take place in a single processor. Screens and the MBUX infotainment system thus share a new, very powerful central onboard computer. This form of networking improves the performance and speed of the data streams.

New selfie and video camera

A new feature is a selfie and video camera (part of the optional MBUX Superscreen) on top of the dashboard. Using the new on-board Vivaldi browser opens new possibilities for video calls for work and pleasure by enabling you to connect from your car on the go as well.

Automated comfort functions with routines

Mercedes-Benz is pursuing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to enable the car to learn which comfort systems vehicle occupants use repeatedly. Given the same circumstances, the aim is for AI to automate such functions. Mercedes-Benz uses the term 'routine' for this innovation. At launch of the new E-Class, customers will be able to use templates for standard routines. They also have the option of creating routines themselves.

Intelligent passenger screen

The front passenger can watch dynamic content such as TV or video streaming on the display during a journey while the driver is protected from distraction.

Enhanced Suspension

The suspension is specially tuned keeping in mind the rear seat passengers and driving conditions in India. As standard, the E-Class is equipped with our AGILITY CONTROL steel spring suspension with selective damping system. This combines balanced ride comfort and high driving stability. The passive damping system ensures a superior driving experience on any road surface. It continuously adapts rolling behaviour, cushioning effect, and stabilization to the current surface. In the case of smaller bumps, the ride comfort is enhanced by reducing the damping effect, while with larger bumps the full damping ensures optimum stability.

Resource-conserving materials

Numerous components of the New E-Class are made partly from resource-saving materials (recyclable and renewable raw materials). For the first time, certified recycled raw materials are used in the foam of the seats according to the "mass balance approach". In terms of their properties, they do not differ from raw materials produced from crude oil.

Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today accomplished the coveted ‘Guinness World Records’ title for covering the longest distance in a production BEV in a single charge, with its state-of-art, ‘Made in India’ EQS 580 4MATIC luxury BEV. The EQS 580 travelled a distance of 949.0 Kms from the southern city of Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai in the west, in one single charge. The record setting drive under an arduous and real-life driving conditions signify the efficiency, long range and practicality of the EQS 580 luxury sedan, which is also India’s first locally assembled luxury BEV. The Guinness World Records title was created by Autocar India magazine road test team, led by Autocar road-tester Rahul Kakkar.

The record drive included areas of built-up traffic in busy urban and sub-urban areas with road works, diversions and detours amidst the heavy monsoon rains. Data from the EQS 580 at the end of the journey showed the luxury sedan delivered an electrical power consumption of 11.36 kWh/100 km.

The EQS 580 maintained an average speed of 60kph on the highway, maximizing the range of the sedan. The three regen levels of the EQS 580 4MATIC were used, extracting every last kilometre from the EQS’ massive battery pack of 107.8 kWh, making this Guinness World Records title a reality.

The BEV that made the ‘Guinness World Record title’ 2024: EQS 580 4MATIC

The BEV is India’s longest-range BEV across segments, with an ARAI certified range of 857 Kms. With meticulous detailing on the basis of Purpose design, the Mercedes-Benz aerodynamic engineers in close cooperation with the designers, were able to achieve a new cd best value of 0.20 for the EQS sedan. This makes the EQS ‘the most aerodynamic production car in the world’. The operating range particularly benefitted from this inherent strengths of the EQS 580, leading to the World Record.

The record-setting mileage achieved was remarkably higher than the EQS’ certified claimed range, exceeding by over 10 percent. Furthermore, factors like the low-slung sedan form and the aerodynamically optimized wheels gives the Mercedes EQS a drag coefficient of 0.20, making it the world’s slipperiest car through the air, further helping maximize the range clocked during the drive.

An average speed of 50-60kph was maintained on the highway to maximize range. All three levels of regen were used on the car to extract every last kilometer from the sedan’s massive battery pack, making this Guinness World Records title possible.

Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor, Autocar India commented, “We are delighted to celebrate our 25th anniversary with a Guinness World Record title. This record of 949.0 km on a single charge in adverse conditions drive is easily the most challenging drive we have ever undertaken. You can never be prepared enough for what Indian roads throw at you but some incredibly disciplined driving in a car like the EQS which has the best range and an efficient aerodynamic shape, helped us overcome all obstacles to achieve this amazing distance without plugging in” said Hormazd Sorabjee, Editor, Autocar India.

Drive Route: Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai

The EQS 580 was driven from southern city of Bengaluru to the western city of Navi Mumbai covering a distance of 949.0 Kms. The route covered cities like Davangere, Hubli, Belgavi, Kolhapur, Satara and Pune before reaching Navi Mumbai.

Challenges faced:

The ‘Guinness World Records’ title was accomplished traversing across arduous driving conditions under real driving conditions, making the achievement highly significant. Undertaken during the thick of the Indian monsoon, the drive route from Bengaluru to Navi Mumbai witnessed the EQS 580 lashed with torrential rainfall on multiple stretches. This not only escalated the difficulties further, but also created treacherous driving conditions for this record setting drive, that already was under high time pressure.

The exceptionally heavy monsoon of 2024 has also resulted in intensive roadwork to be carried out at multiple spots along the route. This resulted in numerous diversions and detours, further upping the challenge for the driver to achieve the title.
