Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today announced its best-ever fiscal sales with 19,363 new Mercedes-Benz retailed in the April 2025-Mar 2026 period (up from 18,928 units in FY 24-25). The company retailed 5,131 new Mercedes-Benz in the January to March 2026 period, growing by +7% (Q1 2025: 4775 units). Mercedes-Benz India sales was strongly driven by new and existing products, qualitative network upgradation and differentiated customer experience. Continued robust performance of the Core and Top-End Luxury segment was the key highlight of Mercedes-Benz’s sales performance during FY 25-26 and also Q1 2026.

Robust demand for the Top-End Luxury segment:
Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Luxury segment that comprises highly desirable and industry benchmark models like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, EQS SUV and the AMG range continued its growth trajectory, successfully retaining the trust and loyalty of highly discerning customers. Top-End Luxury segment sales grew by a strong 25% in Q1 2026 and by 16% in FY 25-26, underpinned by consistent demand for the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range, EQS SUV and also iconic products like the AMG G 63.
Notably, in FY 2025-26, 27% of all luxury cars sold by Mercedes-Benz in India were ‘Top-End Luxury’ vehicles. Waiting period for the Top-End Luxury segment currently ranges from 4 months and extends up to a year for iconic products like the AMG G 63.

Consistent demand drives the important ‘Core’ segment:
Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Core’ segment significantly contributed to the sales performance in FY 25-26 and in Q1 2026. The Core segment comprising C-Class, E-Class LWB sedans, the GLC and GLE SUVs continued to retain customer preference, contributing a significant share in the overall sales volumes of Mercedes-Benz.
In FY 25-26 and Q1 2026, the success of the E-Class LWB (also available with a dynamic E 450 variant) remained unabated, with very high customer traction across all markets. The Long Wheelbase E-Class remains the highest selling luxury car in India.

Entry Luxury Segment:
Mercedes-Benz’s Entry Luxury models are defined by strong product content and superior value proposition. In FY 2025–26, the segment saw an 18% decline within a market increasingly dominated by lower-price products supported by market-led incentives. Mercedes-Benz however continues to focus on comprehensively equipped, feature-rich vehicles, underscoring a value-oriented sales approach that not only aligns with long-term brand desirability; but prioritizes ‘customer aspiration’ over ‘price-led volume aspirations’.

Mercedes-Benz Top-End BEVs continue to surge:
Battery Electric Vehicles now account for 20% of Mercedes-Benz’s total Top-End retail volumes in FY 2025–26. Notably, Top-End Luxury BEVs (priced above ₹1.4 crore) recorded an 85% growth in FY 2025–26, driven by strong demand for the EQS SUV, EQS Maybach SUV, and the Electric G-Class SUV. Mercedes-Benz is set to launch the highly anticipated CLA BEV on 24 April 2026, reaffirming its long-term BEV roadmap for the Indian market. The CLA BEV will be the first of Mercedes-Benz’s next-generation software defined electric vehicles, marking the beginning of the brand’s global electric product fireworks in India.

Major Retail Network Expansion Planned in Q2 2026
Under its ‘Go to Customer’ strategy, Mercedes-Benz India has outlined an ambitious retail network expansion strategy for 2026. The company plans to establish more than 20 world-class luxury outlets across high-potential emerging markets, alongside reinforcing the brand’s presence in key metropolitan regions such as Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR. As part of this expansion plan, Mercedes-Benz India will debut in new markets like Visakhapatnam and Varanasi, while further strengthening its footprint in with new luxury outlets in established markets of Pune and Goa, during Q2 2026.

Customer Experience remains central to Mercedes-Benz’s Network Strategy. The company will continue to upgrade existing facilities across markets to global luxury standards, while also exploring new retail formats and advanced technologies, including AI- and automation-led solutions. This expansion will be supported by an investment of over ₹450 crores by Mercedes-Benz Franchise Partners over the next two years.

Pune: India's most desirable luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India today announced a pricing adjustment across its entire model range, effective from 1st January 2026. The price correction capped at 2%, reflects sustained forex pressures that have characterised the luxury automotive landscape throughout 2025. In addition, rise in input costs, commodity prices, increased logistical expenses in combination of inflationary pressures have been creating significant pressure on the company’s bottom line, necessitating a price correction.

 

Throughout 2025, the Euro-INR exchange rate has traded persistently above INR 100 mark, representing a significant deviation from earlier period. This currency environment has created substantial cost pressures across the supply chain, affecting both imported components for local assembly, as well as import of CBU (completely built vehicles). Despite the company's aggressive localisation strategy, which continues to absorb bulk of increased costs, a selective price adjustment has become essential to maintain operational sustainability.

Each Mercedes-Benz dealership will now operate on its own dedicated Zoho CRM instance, enabling autonomy while ensuring compliance with centrally defined standards. SKYLine seamlessly integrates with Mercedes-Benz’s legacy HQ systems without requiring any changes at the HQ end, enabled by a robust transformation layer co-developed with Zoho to manage all downstream communication.

 

To achieve this vision, Mercedes-Benz India needed to balance dealership autonomy with OEM-level control and enterprise-wide standardization while addressing the constraint of not modifying HQ systems. Zoho addressed these requirements by co-creating a vertical, multi-instance architecture powered by Zoho CRM and Qntrl, its workflow orchestration platform. The middleware layer, developed in tandem with Qntrl, enables real-time synchronization across systems and regions by supporting REST, SOAP, file-based, and other legacy protocols.

SKYLine now orchestrates the full spectrum of customer service processes comprising:

Service booking, digital check-in, vehicle inspection, real-time estimate approvals (to be activated soon), job card creation, skill-based technician assignment, live job tracking, proactive communication, quality control, and post-service feedback collection.

These connected workflows replace fragmented systems with a seamless, paperless customer journey. Beyond service, SKYLine streamlines diverse dealership operations including courtesy car management and pre-owned vehicle refurbishment and resale.

 

Dealerships can track courtesy car availability via a visual dashboard, while pre-owned workflows centralize one of the fastest-growing business segments. Embedded analytics provide real-time insights to both dealership managers and OEM stakeholders, enabling informed, data-driven decisions.

 

The rollout was backed by over 5,000 man-days of user acceptance testing and 3,000 man-days of training, ensuring strong adoption across all locations. Zoho EBS led the end-to-end delivery, from design to post-implementation support, while engineering secure middleware integrations that enabled seamless data exchange with Mercedes-Benz’s European HQ systems. This included advanced data transformation, asynchronous processing, and multi-protocol communication, making SKYLine one of the most technically complex and strategically significant DMS deployments in the region.

The G 450d is powered by all new six-cylinder inline diesel with a 48-volt on-board electrical system and an integrated starter generator (ISG), providing support at lower engine speeds with an additional 15 kW. The unit delivers 270 kW and torque of 750 Nm. From a standstill, the G 450d accelerates to 100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 210 kmph.

 

Distinctive Design:

The G 450d features the classic G-Class silhouette, with a new radiator grille with four horizontal louvres instead of the previous three. In addition, there are redesigned front and rear bumpers with the front ones featuring a new refreshed look. The vehicle is available with 20-inch AMG alloy wheels in high gloss black with high sheen finish.

 

Advanced Technology:

Best ever monthly sales

Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today, announced its best-ever September sales, growing by a robust 36% compared to September 2024. The record monthly sales is strongly driven by Government’s GST 2.0 reforms which buoyed customer interest and resulted in increased purchase, that has been on hold since middle of August. The GST 2.0 reforms is reflected in the Navratri Sales, which witnessed ~2500 units retailed in the nine days of the festival, making it the highest ever Navratri sales for Mercedes-Benz in India.

 

The highest ever September 2025 sales also drives Mercedes-Benz’s highest ever Q2 FY 25-26 sales performance with 5119 units retailed. The best-ever sales performance in Q2 FY 25-26 was buoyed by steady demand across ‘Core Luxury’ and ‘Top-End Luxury’ vehicles. The sales momentum in Q2 FY 25-26 was driven by growth in the top-end luxury BEV portfolio, which continued its penetration of 8% in the overall sales volume of Mercedes-Benz India.

 

Strong demand for the Top-End Luxury segment: Best-ever monthly sales for GLS, AMG G63 SUVs and the EQS SUV in September 2025
Demand for Mercedes-Benz ‘Top-End’ luxury segment continued for the Q2 FY 25-26 with 25% penetration and 12% y-o-y growth. Top-End Vehicles comprising GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMG G 63 continued to command customer preference with growing trends of hyper-personalization and customization. Mercedes-Benz’s bespoke ‘manufaktur’ range, offering personalized selection of high-quality equipment, exclusive appointments and craftsmanship, comprises 75% of all top-end luxury vehicles sold in India. AMG G 63 also registered its highest ever monthly sales despite a waiting period of more than 6 months.

 

Steady demand driving the ‘Core’ segment: Best-ever monthly sales for LWB E-Class, GLC and GLE SUVs
Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Core’ segment registered a growth of 10% in Q2 FY 25-26 with best-ever monthly sales for LWB E-Class, GLC and GLE SUVs in September 2025. ‘Core Segment’ continued to play an important role with 60% penetration in Mercedes-Benz India’s overall sales in India. The success of the LWB E-Class remains unchallenged in India, making it the highest selling luxury car in India with a 47% y-o-y growth for the luxury sedan in the Q2 FY 25-26 period.

 

Entry Luxury Segment:
Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury’ portfolio comprising the A-Class sedan and the GLA SUV continue to offer high product substance in their respective segments, driving substantial value proposition for luxury customers. Mercedes-Benz Entry Luxury products are feature loaded underpinning a value- oriented sales approach that successfully caters to the growing aspirations of young customers. In Q2 FY 25-26, Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury Segment’ declined in a segment completely dominated by products available at a lower price point having market offers.

 

Top-End BEVs continue to drive Mercedes-Benz’s BEV growth:
Mercedes-Benz continued its BEV acceleration in India with a penetration of 8% to overall sales. The BEV portfolio grew by 10% with highest ever sales for the EQS SUV. The top-end G 580 Edition 1 with EQ Technology is already sold out for the year and bookings are now open for the next slot of deliveries.

The findings, based on data collected up to 1st January 2025, highlight emerging trends in brand preferences, investment attitudes, luxury consumption, and lifestyle aspirations. Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Index (MBHX) grew by almost 200%, indicating the rise of HNI wealth creation. The index shows India’s wealth creation is real and resilient, rising in tandem with GDP growth, Sensex gains, new billionaire entrants, and Mercedes-Benz car sales.

Number of Millionaires: India now has 8,71,700 millionaire households (net worth ≥ INR8.5Cr / US$1Mn), up 90% from 2021’s 4,58,000, representing 0.31% of all households.

The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 estimates that India is home to 8,71,700 dollar millionaire households (net worth ≥INR 8.5 Cr each), up from 4,58,000 in 2021 – a 90% increase in four years. These millionaire families represent about 0.31% of all households in India (up from 0.17% in 2021) and are projected to continue growing in number on the back of strong economic momentum. Meanwhile, the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Luxury Consumer Survey 2025, based on responses from 150 Indian millionaires (Average age 32 years), sheds light on their brand preferences, investment attitudes, and lifestyle trends, ranging from digital payment adoption to favourite luxury brands.

The year 2021 provides a striking case study: the pandemic-induced economic shock triggered a synchronised dip across all three indicators—the GDP, the number of billionaire entrants, and MBHX. The subsequent sharp recovery from 2022 onwards, with all metrics resuming a robust upward climb, underscores that the health of India’s high-net-worth economy is closely intertwined with broader national prosperity and entrepreneurial success.

MBHX Confirms India’s Wealth Creation Is Real

The Nominal and Real MBHX move almost parallel, showing only a small gap between them. This tells us that inflation in India over this period was moderate and well-managed, averaging around 4–6% annually. Unlike high-inflation economies, where nominal measures are heavily distorted, most observed wealth creation in India came from genuine economic expansion, stock market growth, and new billionaire wealth, not simply rising prices.

 

In other words, the MBHX confirms that India’s wealth creation story since 2017 has been real, sustainable, and largely inflation-resilient.

A new analysis of India’s millionaire households highlights the distribution of wealth across varying net-worth tiers, underscoring the growing concentration of assets at the top. The data present a clear wealth pyramid, where households rise sharply as the wealth brackets decline.

 

At the very apex stand 360 billionaire households, each with a net worth exceeding INR8,500Cr (US$1 Bn), collectively commanding an extraordinary INR 185 lakh crore. Below them, the affluent base expands significantly: 66,800 households hold wealth above INR100Cr, while the count of millionaire households (net worth above INR8.5Cr / US$1Mn) reaches 8,71,700.

India adds millions of new millionaires and crorepatis between 2017 and 2025, yet only a fraction ascends into the ultra-rich and billionaire tiers, highlighting broad-based affluence and steep selectivity at the top.

 

The Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 reveals a transformative decade in India’s wealth landscape, characterised by extraordinary upward mobility at the pyramid's base and a sharp narrowing of fortunes at the apex.

 

Between 2017 and 2025, the number of Indians surpassing the symbolic US$1Mn mark (INR8.5Cr) grew by 445%, while those exceeding INR10Cr (US$1.17Mn) rose by over 200%. This surge reflects India’s rapidly expanding affluent base, driven by strong equity markets, entrepreneurship, and urban economic growth.

 

At the same time, upward mobility into the ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) brackets was more selective. Roughly 5% of 2017 millionaires crossed into the INR100Cr (US$12Mn) bracket, while only 1.3% reached INR200Cr (US$24Mn). Beyond this point, the pyramid narrows dramatically: just 0.07% of millionaires progressed to INR1,000Cr (US$120Mn) and a mere 0.01% became billionaires (US$1Bn+).

 

These findings underline a dual narrative: India produces millions of new millionaires, yet billionaire status remains extraordinarily rare, achievable only by a select few through global-scale enterprises, IPOs, or multi-generational wealth consolidation.

 

Consistency with Income-tax Data:

 

The report’s findings are reinforced by official Income-tax return (ITR) statistics, which show that the number of taxpayers with annual income above INR1Cr nearly tripled between AY 2017–18 and AY 2023–24, rising from ~81,000 to ~2.27 lakh. Like the wealth pyramid, the taxpayer pyramid thins out quickly in higher slabs (INR5Cr+, INR10Cr+), validating the report’s conclusion that wealth mobility is potent at the base but sharply selective at the top. Inline six-cylinder with integrated starter generator and electric additional compressor

 

The new CLE 53 4MATIC+ uses a comprehensively upgraded version of the 3.0-litre M 256M inline six-cylinder turbo engine. The facelift generation of the high-performance engine, now known as the M 256M, impresses above all with optimized combustion chambers with redesigned inlet and outlet channels, new piston rings, optimized injection and a new exhaust gas turbocharger. In conjunction with the new electric additional compressor, this offers an increase in boost pressure by 0.4 bar to 1.5 bar and thus a higher torque of 560 Nm in continuous operation and 600 Nm in overboost for up to 12 seconds.


However, what is more important than the absolute torque is the availability of it and the overall response of the engine. The improved electric additional compressor is responsible for this. It can now be operated almost continuously over a longer period of time. Drivers feel this especially in medium speed ranges. For this, the exhaust gas turbocharger was made larger for higher peak performance.


The new, second-generation integrated starter generator (ISG) is now integrated into the gearbox bell housing. As a central component of the 48-volt electrical system, it not only functions as an electrical generator, but also takes on hybrid functions. These include short-term boosting with 17 kW (23 hp) of power and 205 Nm of torque, recuperation, load point shifting, sailing and the almost imperceptible restart of the engine during the start-stop function.

 

Adapted switching times, high efficiency: AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission

The 3.0-litre in-line engine is coupled with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, which impresses with adapted shift times, quick reactions, the double-declutching function and multiple downshifts. An upshift or downshift is implemented immediately. The transmission acts very spontaneously, especially in the "Sport+" driving programme and in manual mode. Dynamic acceleration manoeuvres and the adjusted shifting times are available, as is a fuel-saving driving style, depending on the driving programme selected.

 

Characteristics at your fingertips: AMG DYNAMIC SELECT

With the five AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes "Slippery", "Comfort", "Sport", "Sport+" and "Individual" the characteristics of the CLE 53 can be influenced at the touch of a finger. The differentiation ranges from efficient and comfortable to very sporty. Important parameters such as the response behaviour of the engine, transmission, chassis and steering are modified. Regardless of the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving programmes, the driver can switch directly to manual mode using the "M" button, to shift gears exclusively using the steering wheel shift paddles.

 

Fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive as standard

The fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive combines optimal traction for dynamic driving pleasure with a high level of driving safety under all conditions: on dry roads as well as on wet or slippery surfaces. The transition from rear to all-wheel drive and vice versa occurs continuously because the intelligent control is integrated into the entire vehicle system architecture. 

 

When driving moderately and in situations where all-wheel drive is not required, the front axle is completely decoupled. This increases efficiency. From the ESP Sport setting onwards, the driving behaviour is more rear-focused.

 

Independent AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension and three-stage steering

The AMG RIDE CONTROL chassis developed in Affalterbach is used for more agility, more neutral cornering behaviour and higher traction. The steel suspension with a particularly sporty spring-damper set-up and adaptive adjustable damping combines excellent driving dynamics with a high level of ride comfort. The damping on each wheel adapts to the current driving situation and road conditions quickly and precisely via separate valves for the tension and compression directions in the dampers. The damper characteristic curve can be preselected in three levels: "Comfort", "Sport" and "Sport+".

 

The standard rear axle steering operates with a maximum steering angle of 2.5 degrees. Up to this degree, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels at speeds of up to 100 km/h, leading to a virtual shortening of the wheelbase and resulting in significantly more agile turning, less steering work, and increased maneuverability. At speeds of more than 100 km/h, the rear wheels turn parallel to the front wheels - up to a maximum of 0.7 degrees for enhanced driving stability.

 

Interior with independent equipment and specific displays

The interior welcomes passengers with unique equipment, exclusive materials and the latest generation MBUX infotainment system. The eye-catchers are the free-standing 12.3-inch fully digital driver display, the 11.9-inch driver-oriented central display in a user-friendly portrait format and the dynamic ambient lighting with 64 colours.

 

With the driver display, customers can switch between the display styles "Classic", "Sport" and AMG exclusive "Supersport". The "Supersport" mode is particularly striking with a central round tachometer, designed horizontal displays that are located to the left and right of the tachometer and create a spatial impression of depth. The driver can use the AMG menu to access various special displays such as engine data, gear indicator, warm-up, set-up, G-metre and race timer.

 

The integral seats in ARTICO man-made leather/MICROCUT black microfibre with AMG-specific graphics and red contrasting topstitching combine sportiness with strong lateral support. The standard, flat-bottomed AMG Performance steering wheel in double-spoke design with seamlessly integrated buttons offers a high level of everyday use with intuitive operating logic for important driving functions and all driving programmes.

Revolutionary technology and engineering

 

Both variants feature the groundbreaking AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with active roll stabilisation, replacing conventional anti-roll bars with active hydraulic elements that provide exceptional handling precision and comfort. The system actively manages roll movements in milliseconds, delivering optimal performance in both everyday driving and track conditions.

 

Active aerodynamics play a crucial role in the AMG GT's performance, with the innovative AIRPANEL system featuring vertical and horizontal louvres that optimise airflow based on driving conditions.

 

The retractable rear spoiler assumes five different positions above 100 km/h, while the active underbody element creates a Venturi effect for enhanced downforce.

 

The AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ takes aerodynamic efficiency further with a redesigned front apron, additional air deflectors made of visible carbon fibre, and underbody fins similar to those on the Mercedes-AMG ONE. These enhancements reduce front axle lift by over 30 kilograms and increase rear downforce by approximately 15 kilograms.

 

Active rear-axle steering comes standard across both variants, with rear wheels steering opposite to front wheels up to 100 km/h for enhanced agility, and in the same direction above 100 km/h for improved stability.

 

Track-Focused enhancements in the GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 PRO 4MATIC+ features extensively enhanced cooling systems specifically designed for track use. Two additional radiators positioned in the left and right front wheel arches increase cooling performance, while electrically operated water pumps actively cool the top-mounted radiators of the differentials and transfer case.

 

Standard equipment includes AMG ceramic high-performance composite brakes with six-piston fixed callipers at the front and 420-millimetre brake discs. The lightweight AMG Performance 21-inch forged wheels in cross-spoke design come painted exclusively in Himalaya grey matt, fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport 5S tyres as standard, with optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tyres available at no extra charge.

Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today announced its best-ever fiscal sales with 18,928 new Mercedes-Benz retailed. The company also retailed 4,775 new Mercedes-Benz inthe January to March 2025 period. Mercedes-Benz sales was primarily driven by new product launches,qualitative network upgradation and elevating customer experiences. Mercedes-Benz India’s ‘Desire toExceed’ market strategy reflected in growing customer loyalty and increasing desirability of the brand inthe Indian market. Robust demand for the Top-End Luxury segment:

The key highlight for Mercedes-Benz India’s fiscal 24-25 and Q1 25 sales had been the strong andconsistent demand for its Top-End Luxury segment comprising the likes of S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach,EQS SUV and the AMG range. Top-End Luxury segment sales grew by 34% in FY 24-25 with robustdemand for S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach Night Series, G 580 with EQ Technology, EQS SUV and theiconic AMG G 63.

In Q1 2025 more than 1 out of 4 cars sold in India by Mercedes-Benz remained a ‘Top-End Luxury’vehicle. Waiting period for the Top-End Luxury segment ranges from 4 months, and up to a year for theiconic AMG G 63.

 

Consistent traction driving the ‘Core’ segment:

Mercedes-Benz’s ‘Core’ segment remained the highest contributor to its sales in FY 24-25 and in Q12025. The Core segment comprising C-Class, E-Class LWB sedans, the GLC and GLE SUVs continued todrive customer desire and loyalty, contributing a significant share in the overall sales volumes ofMercedes-Benz.

In Q1 2025, the success of the E-Class LWB (now available with a dynamic E 450 variant) continued,with very high customer traction across all markets. The Long Wheelbase E-Class remains the highestselling luxury car in India.

 

Entry Luxury Segment:

Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury’ offers product substance, having higher value for luxury customers. In Q12025, Mercedes-Benz ‘Entry Luxury Segment’ declined by 28%, in a segment primarily dominated byproducts at a lower price point with high market offering. Mercedes-Benz products are feature rich andfully loaded, underlining a value-oriented sales approach, that caters to growing customer aspirations.

 

Strong demand for BEV:

Mercedes-Benz BEV portfolio grew by a robust 51% in FY 24-25 fiscal, with a penetration of 7% of total sales. BEV sales growth underlined the continued strong response to the entire portfolio, highlightedwith the highest ever customer deliveries for the EQS SUV.Q1 25 sales also witnessed a similar strong demand for the BEV portfolio with very positive response tothe ‘Made in India’ EQS SUV 580 and EQS SUV 450, pushing the BEV penetration to 8% in Q1 25.The BEVs particularly witnessed significant growth at the ‘Top-End Luxury’ spectrum, with high demandfor the EQS Maybach Night Series and the stunning G 580 SUV with EQ Technology. The waiting periodfor both these vehicles extend up to 12 months.

 

Major Retail Network expansion planned in Q2 2025:

Mercedes-Benz India, as part of its ‘Go to Customer’ strategy, has major Retail Network expansionplanned in Q2 2025. As part of market expansion, Mercedes-Benz will expand its retail network to 21world-class MAR20X outlets in new emerging markets, as well in existing metropolis of New Delhi NCR,Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, with an investment of Rs. 450 crores from FranchisePartners in next three years. Mercedes-Benz will also debut in key emerging markets of Kanpur, Jammu,Varanasi, Udaipur and Patna among other markets. A state-of-art modern luxury facility was inauguratedin Agra last week.

Pune: India’s most desirable luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today announced its highest ever sales in its 30 years operations in India. Mercedes-Benz reported its best-ever January-December 2024 sales retaining the Three-Pointed Star’s strong differentiation as the ‘most desirable’ luxury car brand in the Indian market. The company achieved a record sale of 19,565 new cars sold in January-December 2024, underlining a strong 12.4% growth, despite facing challenging market headwinds.

 

The best-ever yearly sales of Mercedes-Benz in India is a result of the company’s achieving its ‘best-ever quarter’, for all the four consecutive quarters in 2024. While the YTD Q4 2024 growth was at 12%, the H2 sales growth was at a higher 16% YoY, underlining Mercedes-Benz steady sales performance round the year, as it faced continued market challenges and macro-economic headwinds.

 

This outstanding sales result was driven by a combination of newly launched and existing vehicles and an enhanced retail customer experience. Demand persisted for Mercedes-Benz across its Entry, Core, and Top-End Vehicle (TEV) segments, with strong performance from new as well as existing products. In 2024, Mercedes-Benz launched 14 new products including 9 alluring Top-End Vehicles in the Indian market, exciting the customer sentiment and creating ‘desire’, which is synonymous with a Mercedes-Benz.

 

Robust BEV sales at 94%:

Mercedes-Benz’s BEV portfolio continued to gain strong customer preference, growing significantly by 94% year on year, with an enhanced penetration of more than 6% in YTD Jan-Dec 2024 sales. The introduction of 4 New BEVs in 2024 comprising the EQA 250+, 5-seater EQB SUV, ‘Made in India’ EQS SUV 580 and the ultra-luxurious Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, expanded the BEV portfolio and created a strong customer interest for Mercedes-Benz BEVs. Mercedes-Benz leads the luxury BEV segment selling its highest number of BEVs in a single year.

Mercedes-Benz’s current offering comprises a BEV suited to each customer’s preference and requirements. Mercedes-Benz’s ambitious roadmap for BEV was particularly underscored by a record growth of 110% in Q4 2024 alone.

Mercedes-Benz today introduces two new BEVs in the Indian market comprising the 5-Seater ‘Made in India’ EQS 450 SUV and the iconic G-Class in its BEV version, the G 580 with EQ Technology. These BEVs will further add to Mercedes-Benz India’s increasing BEV portfolio, accelerating its BEV adoption.

 

Top-End Vehicle (TEV) sales on rise at 30%:

Mercedes-Benz’s Top-End Vehicle (TEV) comprising the most exquisite and topline vehicles like the accounted for 1 out of every 4 Mercedes-Benz sold in India and grew by 30% in Jan-Dec 2024. Demand for the exquisite Mercedes-Maybach range comprising ultra-luxurious vehicles like the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach GLS SUV and the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 580 are at an all-time high.

 

Mercedes-Benz accomplishes milestone of selling 200,000 cars in India:

Of the 200,000 Mercedes-Benz sold since 1994; 100,000 cars were sold in the last 6 years alone (2019-2024). Though the first 50,000 cars took 20 years (1994-2013), the next 50,000 were sold in 5 years from 2014-2018. In the last decade (2014-2024), Mercedes-Benz sold an astounding 150,000 new Mercedes-Benz cars, underling the growing affluence and aspirations of successful Indian customers across markets.

 

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services achieves INR 10,000 crores portfolio in India:

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services achieves 50%+ penetration and remains the preferred choice as financers for Mercedes-Benz customers funding every second Mercedes-Benz retailed in India. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services also achieved a significant 80% insurance penetration backed by strong value proposition and unmatched services to ensure peace of mind for the customers.

With the average age of Mercedes-Benz customers getting younger, there are more salaried customers than before, choosing to have more flexibility with financing options. This trend leads to higher acceptance of STAR Agility, as every second car financed by MBFS is financed under STAR Agility. Hassle free and paperless processes further aid to the ease in which customers can complete the processes and own the Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has a total of 20,000 contracts that are completely paperless. All these initiatives have resulted in a significant achievement of INR 10,000 Crore portfolio for Mercedes-Benz Financial Services in India.

G-STEERING can significantly reduce the turning circle of the G 580 with EQ Technology when driving off-road. This is achieved through targeted control of the drive torque at each individual wheel, with the vehicle turning around the inside rear wheel. The function can thus eliminate the need for multi-point turns in certain situations – for example in sharp bends or other tight spaces.


The intelligent off-road crawl function provides drivers with additional support off-road. It ensures ideal propulsion even on loose surfaces, maintaining a pre-set speed – and thus functions in a manner similar to cruise control, but for off-road driving. The intelligent off-road crawl function is always active when the LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction is engaged.


G-ROAR: the sound of the all-new electric G-Class:


G-ROAR brings a unique sound experience to the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology. Inspired by the G-Class model family's emotional combustion engine sounds, it provides an impressive acoustic accompaniment to the acceleration of the electric G-Class. Battery & Charging:


At the heart of the all-new electric G-Class is the high-voltage battery with a 116-kWh usable capacity. The two-tiered lithium-ion battery with 216 cells is installed in twelve cell modules between three cooling levels. It is integrated into the steel ladder frame to ensure a low center of gravity and also makes the entire vehicle significantly more rigid. ECO Assistant and Navigation with Electric Intelligence support electric driving.
Both AC and DC charging are possible thanks to a 9.6-kW on-board AC charger and a DC fast charging system with a charging capacity of up to 200 kW. With DC fast charging, the high voltage battery is able to charge from 10 to 80 percent SoC (State of Charge) in approximately 32 minutes. The all-new electric G-Class includes three charging programs – "Standard," "Work" and "Home." Users can set parameters such as departure time, climate control and maximum charge level.


Multi-stage high-voltage safety concept:


Mercedes-Benz has developed a multi-stage high-voltage protection concept for its electric vehicles to prevent electric shocks and high-energy short circuits. It comprises eight essential elements for the safety of the battery and all components with a voltage level of more than 60 volts. This includes, for example, a self-monitoring high-voltage system that switches off automatically in the event of a serious collision.


Suspension and drivetrain:
