For the past three years, the Singapore Grand Prix has been being held in a uniquely-tailored racetrack which includes several central business district main roads connected together. The action-packed races also gave its drivers, teams and spectators an after sun-down blast as the first night-time race is held.
The Singapore circuit winds through some of the country's age-old and contemporary icons such as St. Andrew's Cathedral, the Old Supreme Court, the Singapore Flyer, the Esplanade and Marina Square. With several straights that allow high speed and in a backdrop of city lights, the Singapore circuit presents an exciting and glamorous night-time Formula 1 race.
In 2010, F1 rocked the crowd as big-names in the international entertainment industry enliven the event, which included artistes such as Mariah Carey, Missy Eliot, Daughtry and Adam Lambert, as well as other Singapore proudly-owned local artistes. The 2010 season concluded with Mercedes GP Petronas bagging the 4th place in Constructors' Championship, Schumacher finishing at 9th place and Nico Rosberg at 7th in the Drivers' Championship.
This year, the race continues in Singapore from the 23rd to the 25th of September with an expectation from both avid Singaporean and visitor fans of more fun and thrill, benchmarked during the past Singapore Grand Prix. Watch out for the return of the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System), an addition in motorsports that helps store energy to be used to push for acceleration – and advantage that will surely ignite drivers and teams to brave this rambling and meandering racetrack at the very own heart of the City.
