The new MERCEDES GP PETRONAS Formula One Team sparked a new chapter for Daimler and Mercedes-Benz’s more-than-a-century motorsport success in 2010. In the debut year of the Silver Arrows, the Team finished in fourth place in the Formula One Constructors’ Championship, while Nico Rosberg finishes in seventh place and Michael Schumacher in ninth place in the Drivers’ ranking.
The Team, managed by Ross Brawn, Nick Fry, Norbert Haug and Thomas Fuhr, strives hard to acclimatise with the 2011 season challenges such as the return of the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and the adjustable rear wings. Aerodymanic evaluations and balance checks of the new MGP W02 have been part of their tests and programmes, in addition to race simulations and pit stops, set-up development and focusing on longer runs to keep the team going.
