V6 petrol engine

The petrol engines were developed with the aim of substantially reducing fuel consumption and emissions without compromising on dynamism and ride comfort.

The result: state-of-the-art engine technology which sets new standards.

Over 20% lower fuel consumption than the predecessor model and correspondingly lower CO 2 emissions yet enhanced dynamics – a neat way of summing up the new CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY.

These advantages are primarily down to the latest- generation direct petrol injection from Mercedes-Benz, which operates using spray- guided combustion and highpressure injection by means of piezo injectors.

Maximum output is 225 kW, while the peak torque of 370 Nm is available between 3500 and 5250 pm. In addition to the modified combustion process, further factors which help to reduce fuel consumption include a new intake and exhaust system, controlled ancillaries, intelligent alternator management and consistently applied lightweight-design principles.

Outstanding refinement is another of the new V6 engineʼs hallmark traits.
